  • Weekly meetings with staff

  • Identifying the mental & emotional needs
  • 16-week parenting class

  • Weekly teachings from Teen Challenge Curriculum
  • Personal mentor (after 90 days)

  • Dave Ramsey foundation class
  • Budget while working part-time in transition period for the following:
    1. Tithe

    4. Outstanding debt
    5. Future school enrollment

  • Daily vitamin intake
  • Fuel Fridays for healthy living skills

I am a living testament to the transformative power of God’s love, joy, and saving grace. For 15 long years, I was trapped in a cycle of chaos, hurt, anger, and addiction. I was lost, wandering aimlessly through life without purpose or direction. But through Genesis Ministries, I was blessed with a new beginning- a fresh start that I never thought was possible. Genesis Ministries showed me that there was a different way to live, a life far greater than I could have ever dreamed full of purpose and joy. Genesis showed me that I was not defined by my past, but by God’s love for me. In just a few short weeks, I will be finishing my bachelor’s degree, a feat that seemed impossible when I dropped out of school over ten years ago. But with God, all things are possible. I am not only finishing my degree, but I am also preparing to start a Master’s degree in Christian counseling. God has redeemed me, not for my own sake, but to build His kingdom. He has given me a purpose- to help other women who have lost all hope, and to show them that they too can be redeemed, find love, joy, and saving grace. I am so excited to share the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. I am living proof that no matter how far you have fallen, no matter how lost you feel, God’s love can reach you, His grace can change you, His joy can fill you, and His purpose can guide you.

Growing up I didn’t know my real dad. My mama always told me that he didn’t want me, but I always yearned for that father’s love. Coming from a home with domestic violence, I had a desire early on to run away. I went back and forth between my grandparents and my mama’s house until I became an adult. I started self-medicating as a teenager and it became a full blown addiction. I said I would stop when I had kids, but that never happened. I lived that shameful life for a little over 20 yrs and God knew what it would take to get me to my knees. In Feb 2017, I almost died from drugs, lost my kids, and went to prison. I was presented with the opportunity to go to Genesis Ministries a few months later and upon entering the program, I was welcomed with God’s love, open arms, and understanding. Genesis taught me how to live for Jesus and to make a conscious decision to stay sober everyday. God healed so much of me during my time at Genesis. I have since gotten my kids back, my family has been restored, and God provided a home for us. I’m so thankful for all the volunteers, staff, and the other ladies who were in the program before me who showed me that life with Jesus is a life well lived. At Genesis, I learned how to stay consistent with a schedule, read the Bible in a year, and I participated in group devotionals everyday that allowed me to understand how God was speaking specifically to me through the Bible. I learned how to memorize scripture and keep God’s word in my heart. Through God’s grace and Genesis, my family saw a transformed life and wanted to be around me again.
